On Sept. 29, 2016 our community celebrated a truly momentous, red-letter event in the history of our parish, our Ukrainian Canadian community, and, in fact, in the history of our global Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church. Our community of the Transfiguration of our Lord in KW, hosted our Patriarch, His Beatitude Svyatoslav. Through him, in the Episcopal Divine Liturgy, we could see that our lives, here, are linked to the Universal, Catholic Church. We, as a community, worked hard and together to make this event both beautiful and memorable. Ultimately, it was not only beautiful and memorable, but it was also tremendously enjoyable! Every one of us now can feel pride and gratitude for each other—for belonging to our community—which has a century of great heritage behind it and a boundless future of possibility before it. We give thanks to those who took responsibility for leading the work involved in making the evening a most wonderful smooth-running success. We give thanks to those who contributed with any effort, no matter how small, and we give thanks to those who contributed through attendance, extending the warmth of our community to our guests, and we give thanks to those who contributed with their prayers and well wishes too.

  Patriarch Svyatoslav spoke of the imperative for unity and love throughout our global community. He honoured us with the highest praise when, before leaving, he said that here, amongst us, he felt that he was amongst family. (mizh svoimy)
