We have now moved into what some call “ordinary” time. In the Church calendar, every week is now calculated in reference to the feast of Pentecost.

From now until the Resurrection, we greet each other with the words: GLORY TO JESUS CHRIST! GLORY FOREVER! We are living in the presence of Christ, united by Christ and our lives reflect the presence and power of Christ. We glorify Christ, not simply in words, but by our very person. We glorify Him because He has become like us; we are invited into the Divine Life.

The one exception to this period is from Christmas to the Feast of the Presentation (Feb. 2/15), when we greet each other with another joyous proclamation: CHRIST IS BORN! LET US GLORIFY HIM! In this period for the feast of Jordan we exclaim: CHRIST WAS BAPTISED! IN THE RIVER JORDAN! We remind ourselves that our God has entered into human history and dwells among us.

There is one more greeting which we can use throughout the year: CHRIST IS WITH US! HE IS AND ALWAYS SHALL BE! What a beautiful affirmation. St. Paul wrote: “No longer I live, but Christ in me”.

These are the words the priest utters in greeting when we approach for anointing. These are the words of greeting during the liturgical kiss of peace.

By raising our awareness of the liturgical cycle we recognize the full essence of our life: that through the Holy Spirit, we are brothers and sisters, the mystical body of Christ!

Кожний тиждень рахується від неділі Зіслання Святого Духа. В цьому періоді (і фактично аж до Великодня) ми вітаємося словами: СЛАВА ІСУСУ ХРИСТУ! СЛАВА НА ВІКИ! Ми живемо свідомі що ми поєднанні в Христі та наше життя – життя наслідування Христа – стає виявом Христової присутности і сили. Ми прославляємо Христа не тільки словами але нашою особою! Але є період коли ми користуємося ще одним привітанням, а саме Різдв’яний період.

Від Різдва до Стрітення ми вітаємося вісткою Христового народження: ХРИСТОС РОЖДАЄТЬСЯ! СЛАВІМО ЙОГО! Ми бажаємо щоби світ не забув цей особливий вияв Божої любови: Бог став людиною, щоби ми могли ввійти в Божественне життя! А коло Йордану ми проголошуємо: ХРИСТОС ХРЕСТИВСЯ! В РІЦІ ЙОРДАНІ!

А на кінець є ще одне привітання котрим можемо користуватися крізь року: ХРИСТОС ПОСЕРЕД НАС! Є І БУДЕ! “Вже не я живу, а живе в мені Христос”писав св. апостол Павло.

Це слова котрими отець нас вітає при мированні. Це слова привітання на Літургії при поцілунку миру! Свідомо учащаючи в літургічному році ми пізнаємо дійсну суть нашого життя – а це що ми через Святого Духа є всі брати і сестри в Христі, ми є таїнственне Тіло Ісуса Христа!
