Join the KW Ukrainian community as we mark the 100th anniversary of Canada’s tragic internment project with the blessing and unveiling of commemorative plaques. The Ukrainian Orthodox parish and our parish are marking this event together commencing at 10:45am on Friday August 22nd at St. Sophia Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Thousands of Ukrainians and many, many others were shamefully interned during World War I and forced into hard labour just because of their ethnic background. The Ukrainian Canadian Civil Liberties Association has organized the unveiling of commemorative plaques across Canada at 11a.m on the 22nd to mark this horrible page in Canadian history!

П’ЯТНИЦЯ, 22-го серпня о год 11-і рано, Українська громада нашого району приєднається до все-Канадської акції відзначення 100-ліття ганебного інтернування українців та членів інших етнічних груп.

Ми спільно це відзначимо із православною громадою в церкві св. Cофії на вул. King в Ватерлу. Програма почнеться о год 10:45 рано.
